The feature is now called Spoken Content, and it comes with more controls than previous iterations, as well as a number of ways to customize your experience with it. This feature has existed as Text to Speech, Speech, and as part of the VoiceOver feature. Macs have long been able to read text on your screen out loud to you without downloads or third-party apps.
